Pecan Pie


  • 1 pie crust
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup maple syrup dark or light
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar or 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup pecan halves


  • Roll out the pie crust, and place in a 9" tray.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Melt the butter.
  • Beat the eggs.
  • Stir in the maple syrup, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Arrange pecans in the pie crust in a single layer.
  • Pour the custard over the pie, being careful to not disturb the pecans while also coating the pecans (this gives them a gloss when it is done).
  • Bake for 1 hour. A knife inserted about 3 cm from the edge of the crust should come out clean.
  • Cool to room temperature.
  • Cool in the fridge. It tastes much better cold.
  • Cut into slices.
