Roll out the pie crust, and place in a 9" tray.
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Melt the butter.
Beat the eggs.
Stir in the maple syrup, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix well.
Arrange pecans in the pie crust in a single layer.
Pour the custard over the pie, being careful to not disturb the pecans while also coating the pecans (this gives them a gloss when it is done).
Bake for 1 hour. A knife inserted about 3 cm from the edge of the crust should come out clean.
Cool to room temperature.
Cool in the fridge. It tastes much better cold.
Cut into slices.
